Engine & Torque

The Can-Am Outlander 450/570 is an excellent vehicle for both leisure and utility. Its powerful engine delivers superior torque and acceleration, making it easy to traverse rough terrains with ease.

The engine is a single-cylinder SOHC 449cc or 567cc, allowing for 12% more horsepower and 20% more torque than many competitor models in the same price range. This is not the most powerful option, but it rides efficiently for its size.

Hauling & Towing

This Outlander version can tow 1,300 lbs, and it’s possible to use an optional winch kit to haul trailers around or move large loads from place to place without any issues.

Some of the most expensive trim levels also have a higher towing capacity of up to 1,500 pounds. The ATV weighs 700 or 720 pounds, so it’s easy to understand why many beginners love this lightweight, easy-to-handle vehicle.

Transmission

The electronic fuel injection engine pairs well with the Selectable 2WD or 4WD transmission. It’s designed with Visco-Lok and an auto-locking front differential.

It’s a CVT transmission with standard engine braking too. The transmission features an oil bath multi-disc CVT system that provides smooth gear shifting and response, so you get optimal performance out of your ride every time.

Steering

One key feature available with this ATV is the Intelligent Throttle Control. This pairs with the electric power steering so that this ATV can handle it with maximum precision and efficiency in rugged conditions.

This is known as Tri-Mode Dynamic Power Steering. It has a speed-sensitive steering assistance feature to improve safety, so the steering will not become more challenging to control when we increase speed.

Typically, the Outlander has one of two engine types. This includes a Rotax V-Twin engine in 91-hp (1000R) and 78-hp (850) styles. The engine type will depend on the Outlander's size and price point.

Overall, the Can-Am Outlander ATV is an excellent choice for a powerful, versatile off-road vehicle.

What’s The Best Can-Am Outlander Model?

Choosing the best trim level depends on what you need. For example, the Outlander MAX 6x6 XT 1000 is the obvious choice for farm tasks and towing because of the extra cargo space, increased towing, and more durable design.

Hauling & Towing

The Renegade is not typically the option you would choose for hauling and towing. However, it’s capable of up to 1,300 pounds in towing capacity.

It also has a small rear storage rack that can hold up to 35 pounds. The lack of storage capacity is a major downside to this ATV, but it’s more of a performance option.

Transmission

The Renegade also has a durable, continuously variable transmission that offers smooth shifting while driving in challenging situations and four-wheel drive capabilities for even more capability when you need it most.

This ATV is known for its handling capabilities because of the preload-adjustable FOX 1.5 PODIUM shocks. This helps with trail response times, traction, and bump or shock absorption.

Steering

Another great feature is the Electronic Power Steering which reduces steering effort greatly while providing maximum maneuverability even in tight spots. This is available on each model.

The dual A-arm suspension offers superior comfort by providing 6” of suspension travel and 7” of ground clearance making sure you don't take any painful bumps on your trip.

Its strong engine and hauling capabilities and smooth transmission and steering make it a winner in our book.
