Will ATV Fit in Tacoma Bed?

An ATV will fit in a Tacoma bed. But there are numerous factors to consider, like the ATV size, truck bed size, weight, etc. Tacoma's are the perfect mid-size truck for those needing heavy lifting without needing a huge, full-sized pickup.

With their compact size, there are limitations regarding what can fit inside the bed. Based on current Tacoma designs, the standard model can fit an ATV up to 250cc in size.

The Double Cab Tacoma has a compact bed size with much less space for an ATV. We were only able to fit a 90cc in this model. If the plan is to transport a larger ATV, avoid the Double Cab Tacoma.

Weight is usually not the issue. An average 250cc ATV weighs around 450 pounds and these truck beds have a capacity between 1,500 and 1,600 pounds. The concern is the ATV's length and width and whether it can fit in this compact truck bed.

The average 250cc is 66 to 76 inches long and 40-42 inches wide. The length is the concern, so drivers with a 5-foot Tacoma bed must put the tailgate down to fit the ATV comfortably.

How Big Is A Tacoma Truck Bed?

There are seven trim levels for the Toyota Tacoma. These options include the TRD Pro, Trail Special Edition, Limited, TRD Off-Road, TRD Sport, SR5, and SR.

What Tacoma does is unique in the industry. Each trim level can be modified with a 5-foot or 6-foot truck bed. But what size ATV can fit in these two bed sizes?

Toyota Tacoma 5-Foot Bed

The standard short bed model is 60.5 inches long and 56.7 inches wide. It also offers a maximum payload capacity of 1,560 pounds when properly equipped.

This truck bed is also 41.5 inches wide between wheel wells and 19.1 inches deep. Fitting a smaller 50cc or 90cc ATV in this Tacoma truck bed shouldn't be a major concern.

The tailgate hatch is about 19 inches long. With the tailgate down, the truck bed length is roughly 84 inches long. This extends our truck’s capacity to haul a bigger ATV.

Toyota Tacoma 6-Foot Bed

If you need more room, a 6-foot truck bed option is also available. This model is also available on each trim level and measures 73.7 inches long and 56.7 inches wide.

Inside the bed, you get 41.5 inches between wheel wells and 19.1 inches of depth. The payload capacity of this truck bed is roughly 1,685 pounds.

The beauty of this truck bed is how much more space there is with the tailgate down. The tailgate measures around 20 inches, giving us a total of 93.7 inches in length to haul a bigger ATV.
